Elevated Country Church Wedding with Reception at The Barn at Berkeley

Marion and Chris’ love story is one which spans continents with Chris originating from the UK, Marion Holland and the pair meeting and now living in Australia. This made for a full, fun and diverse wedding which they choose to host in the beautiful Cotswolds UK.

Chris and Marion held their legal wedding ceremony at The church of St Michael Hill just outside of Berkeley with their wedding reception at The Barn at Berkeley. They had the most perfect warm and sunny weather for their June day.

St Michael Hill Church is set isolated and idyllically on the top of a Hill with nothing but rolling fields around it, a truly beautiful setting for the elevated country style. The grooms men drove classic Land Rovers and Marion arrived in a beautiful vintage car.

Guests were greeted at the church with two overflowing urns set on plinths. Inside of the church a smaller urn marked the alter with a flowing instillation set around an enclosed area which hosted the musicians.

Marion and her bridesmaids carried hand tied bouquets in greens, reds, nudes and oranges. Proving that this rich colour palette can work equally well in the summer or Autumn. Flowers included peonies, roses, tulips and kangaroo paw with some flowers giving a little nod to the couples heritage. The groomsmen had complimenting buttonholes of nude lisianthus and the flower girls wore flower crowns in oranges and reds.

When it came to decorating the venue the colour palette stayed consistent with more of a focus on greenery. Within the barn there are four huge chandeliers. These were decorated with garlands in mixed foliage. This gave a lustrous and and intimate feel in the the venue by lowering the height of the room.

On the mantel piece a large floral instillation was created in the greens, reds and oranges. This acted as a beautiful backdrop to the top table and again added a feeling of intimacy. The top table was decorated with foliage garlands and bud vases.

Banquette style tables were used for all of the guests in rows. The couple placed foliage garland runners through these and an abundance of candles.

This was a truly timeless and sophisticated day with real attention to detail.
